Description
Mani Lama turned his lens on this part of the world for almost fifty years. The photographs in this book span from the late 1970s to contemporary times. They show us the lives of those who have lived in some of the most remote parts of the Himalaya as well as in urban centres like Kathmandu. In the faces, gestures, postures, and expressions of the subjects, we see the emotions that people’s lives have been built out of: effort, hard work, skill. Joy and pleasure. Hardship. Art. Community and a sense of belonging. Identity. Questing, abiding. Hope. Pride.
